Beacon of Hope History

Four ministers from Pine Island organized to begin the Beacon of Hope in 2004 after Hurricane Charley. Rev. Ann McLemore from St. John’s Episcopal Church, Pastor Roger Lemke from Fishers of Men Lutheran Church, Pastor Scott Harris from Pine Island Methodist church and Father Pohto from Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church.

Today, the Beacon of HOPE is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to discovering the needs of the Greater Pine Island community and finding long term solutions. The Beacon of HOPE is proud to be The Pine Island United Way House and works with many other assistance groups and agencies, striving for collaboration, not duplication.
