About Our Church:

In 1975 a group of hearty souls felt the need for an Episcopal Church on Pine Island. For its first years it met in a number of places including the VFW, Pine Island Cove's Club House and at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. Finally, in 1978, St. John's had a home of its own when its sanctuary was built on the site it presently occupies at 7771 H. Stringfellow Road. St. John's is located centrally for most parts of the Island, being 3.5 miles south of Island Center and 5.5 miles north of St. James City.

We are a faithful congregation who are involved in all areas of Island life. We are especially active in caring for our community and its citizens through the Beacon of Hope, the F.I.S.H. organization, the Calusa Land Trust and other organizations.

St. John's is a welcoming church, an accessible landmark in the Island community. We love visitors among us, whether it be in church or at one of our events, and we continue to host the community-wide Blessing of the Animals each October.

We hope that you will come and worship with us soon and prayerfully consider becoming a member of our community of faith at St. John's!

Mission:

Our mission honors our Lord Jesus Christ in all that we do. We are an integral part of the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida which stretches from the Gulf of Mexico with the northernmost congregation in Brooksville and the southernmost on Marco Island, and the easternmost congregations in Plant City, Arcadia and LaBelle. Our Diocese is a part of the Episcopal Church in the United States and beyond that is a part of the worldwide Anglican Communion with the seat of the Archbishop, The Most Rev. Justin Welby at Canterbury in England. We follow our ancestry as a church to the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church, tracing its lineage through the centuries to the disciples themselves, who were part and particle of the ministry of Jesus. The Anglican Communion is based on the principles of Scripture, Tradition and Reason.
